DarkWave Studio is a free virtual modular audio studio designed for producing electronic music. Users can create great audio tracks using the different tools from the Sequence Editor to the Multitrack Hard Disk Recorder, plus add effects using the VST/VSTi plug-in support.
The interface, unlike other music studios, differs in that it is organized by tabs using the same windows, so getting lost in the track creation process is not a possibility. Working with audio is easy, users are able to create new projects and build a virtual music studio with machines (equalizers, mixers, etc.).
In the Pattern Editor the users can add and choose available electronic audio patterns and edit them. With the Sequence Editor, they can arrange and mix created patterns. And ultimately the Hard Disk Recorder is used to record the output of the tracks and record to 16-bit Integer of 32-bit Floating Point PCM-encoded WAV files for full-quality post-production and to MP3/FLAC.
For a free application it’s safe to say it is one of the most complete tools of its kind. Why? Well apart from all the features described above, users can find 64 bit system integration, VST unlimited plug-in addition support to extend editing capabilities and effects. Nine audio plug-ins including MIDI keyboard input support.
In this version, some things have changed: multicore support, 64 bit Double Precision Floating Point Audio Processing, plus the BPM (beats per minute) slider spectral display right on the toolbar has been enhanced.
